Letter: V for the future

Letter to the editor

Our city takes great pride in supporting our young people. We have passed parcel taxes to support our schools and a bond measure to improve school facilities. We provide a first-rate education with the goal that our students will be raised with good values and become active citizens.
Unfortunately, the future for our students is not as bright as it could be, as we have provided little growth in housing in the past decades. It appears young people can only dream about living in Davis. They must become either very wealthy or inherit their parents’ house.
Rather than sending our young people to other cities, let’s provide opportunities in our community. While new housing will have immediate positive effects, I ask you to think in the long term. We need to say to our young people that you can have a future in our town. Vote Yes on Measure V.
