Letter: On Village Farms

I was asked by a friend today what I thought about the Village Farms ballot measure. My answer surprised me because I hadn’t really thought about it in these terms before. I answered that I have several friends who live in the Cannery and my son at Davis High has several teammates who also live in the Cannery.

The Cannery is Davis’ most recently completed large development and I was glad that my friends had found a nice place to live in Davis. They have had the opportunity to fully enjoy our community and fully participate.

I also mentioned that I know folks who live in Springlake, Woodland, who commute to Davis each day with their kids and unfortunately they don’t seem to be able to participate as fully.

As a third-generation Davisite (my grandparents first came to Davis in the 1940’s) my family has seen a lot of changes in Davis. Throughout the changes, Davis has remained a nice place to live.

I believe Village Farms will give more nice people the opportunity to live and participate in our community and Davis will still remain a nice place to live, so I will be voting yes.
